This set of colour photographs was inspired by Carol Ann Duffy’s poem Love, as featured in the volume Rapture. The poem was discovered shortly after Eleanor’s older brother’s untimely death in March 2012 and has resonated with her deeply since his passing. Ms Duffy was appointed poet laureate in 2009 and has won many awards for her poetry, writing for both adults and children. Ms Duffy has given her permission for Eleanor to use the poem to accompany these photographs.
Love is talent, the world love’s metaphor….
Not here, you’re everywhere. The evening sky
worships the ground, bears down, the land
yearns back in darkening hills….Not here,
you’re where I stand, hearing the sea, crazy
for the shore….When morning comes, the sun, ardent,
covers the trees with gold, you walk towards me,
out of the season, out of the light, love reasons.
